“Jesus was the visible image of our invisible God.” (ref: Colossians 1:15)
Just think, Jesus was the personification, the embodiment, of God. He was God with flesh on so we could see and hear Him – touch Him too so we could know He is real. God was wanting to walk and talk with us, similar to what He did with Adam and Eve in the Garden, so we could see what He is like, and develop a personal relationship with Him.
Those aren’t just words. Consider reading them and the verse again. Take the time to chew on what it means, for they hold what each of us seek.
Jesus himself told us when you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father. We are a blessed people for we get to know God the Father through His Son, Jesus.
Many Christians see Him (and so God) as our North Star, which when we keep Him in sight can help us correct our course when we get spiritually turned around or lost … our Anchor, that keeps us from drifting into danger when we feel rudderless and helpless … our Cornerstone, to insure we’re building our lives rightly aligned and true … our Foundation, which is set deep in Him, the Rock, which keeps us strong and stable through life’s strongest shaking.
He is also our friend who sticks closer than a brother. My friend, what are you needing Him to be in your life right now? Your hope giver? Your guide? Are you looking for peace of mind? Joy? Stability? In this ever-changing world. Whatever you need, if it’s good, turn to him for it, for He gives everything good too (ref: James 1:17).
All these things, and more, are in His Word. Get to know it and you will get to know Him and the Father. He honors the sincere heart, and will guide and show you what you need.
