Someone just said something like, “Truth doesn’t free us until we apply it.” That grabbed my attention.
I then started considering what this means for us all: freedom from whatever is keeping us down!
Jesus left us with a powerful message about being free, which we find in John 8:31 & 32.
“If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
We all probably know well that last line, “…you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” But each time we quote those familiar words, or hear them, how many of us realize merely KNOWING the truth won’t set us free?
Did I surprise you with that question? I hope so. For it’s an important insight to chew on for a while. When we do, it sinks in that the revelation of Truth can change and strengthen our lives. To be set completely free, we must embrace Truth and incorporate it into our life. When we do, we will then know we’ve truly been set free, for we will be able to see desired change taking place in our attitude and actions.
“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36
